Consumers can now make a ‘Dunkin Run’ using an application made by Dunkin Donuts (via website, mobile device or iPhone). Start a run, invite your friends via email or phone, order what you want (after ordering, your friends are contacted to place their orders), and go pick it up. Genius!!

Recently rolled out, Hunch is a tool that helps one make decisions. Hunch says that the more you use it, the “smarter” it gets.

According to the “How Hunch Works” portion of the site: “In choosing what to ask you, Hunch’s question selection algorithm tries to do two things. First, it tries to find a question which will discriminate well among the remaining possible decision outcomes for you – thus filtering the remaining choices from “many” to “fewer”. Second, the algorithm looks for a question which can help optimize and rank the remaining decision results to present you with the ones you’ll like the most. It’s trying to ensure that you’ll like outcome #1 better than outcome #5.“

Hopefully this can help me decide what to eat on the weekends when I can’t figure out where to go!

I wonder what the MySpace team has in mind to revamp their site and user participation. I know that I fall completely into the trending where they are seeing declines in (I only hop on there as part of a daily routine to check status updates, comments and pictures, but don’t dig any deeper into the site once completing those tasks).

From Techcrunch’s David Arlington: “In about a year from now MySpace will receive their last welfare payment from Google, and they’ll be on their own. They’ll have a social network that costs half a billion dollars a year to run. With page views decreasing and the Google money gone there is a strong likelihood that the News Corp. subsidiary will be unprofitable a year from now.”

I was obviously enticed by the article’s title “JumpTap Unveils Performance-Based Mobile Ads” as I have had little to read to satisfy my hunger about Mobile ad metrics. JumpTap says that the platform “uses user search queries, browsing history and location information, among other data, to create audience profiles for matching display and text ads to the right mobile consumers” and additionally uses several more “layers” of search than it’s competitors.

After reading this interesting article from eMarketer http://www.emarketer.com/Article.aspx?id=1006989 and looking at graph at the bottom of the article titled “Social Media Marketing Tactics…”, I was excited to see that companies are using this medium to create job opportunities and take the consumer experience to the next level.

Oddly, I was wondering the same thing the other day. Is it possible that Facebook users will adopt the product so much that they will utilize it for email and search purposes?

Although an almost simplistic approach to promotional marketing, mobile coupons are trending to become a very useful marketing method, and very cost-effective at that (no printing costs). The store mentioned in the intriguing title, Planet Funk, used a tiered discount strategy to drive sales on Black Friday. Customers could only redeem via the mobile coupon. The key to success in this program was building a mobile “club” of opt in participants.

According to ABI Research , “63 percent of consumers feel a mobile coupons are the best incentive for them to respond to a mobile marketing message.” Although salesy, this article http://www.mobilestorm.com/mobile-coupons/ goes into setting up a useful mobile coupon campaign.

I am really interested to see statistics on other successful mobile coupon campaigns–also wondering how it can be applied in the B2B market, if applicable.
